Homelessness and LGBT Youth workshop

Event Location: Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg, 719 Arlington Avenue North (across from Mirror Lake), St. Petersburg

Event Description:
Youth comprise an increasing percentage of our homeless population. What are the reasons for this increase? How can we protect these teens from being exploited? What resources exist to prevent and end youth homelessness?
These are some of the issues that will be addressed in Celebrate Outreach's upcoming Community Meeting to be held on Saturday, September 15th from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg, 719 Arlington Avenue North (across from Mirror Lake), St. Petersburg.
Our presenter, St. Petersburg City Councilmember Steve Kornell, will present a workshop on the topic: "Homelessness and LGBT Youth." Participants in this workshop will learn the causes of youth homelessness, why it is so prevelant among LGBT youth, how they should be counted and protected, and what resources exist to help them.
The public is invited to attend this workshop. This workshop will be especially beneficial to homeless service providers, social workers, clergy, police officers, teachers, and others who work directly with this segment of our community. If you work with or are concerned about people experiencing homelessness in the St. Petersburg area, this Community Meeting will be of interest and value to you.
Feel free to share and post the attached flyers on your website or social media site.
The workshop is free, and refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited, so you are encouraged to RSVP to concretesolutions@celebrateoutreach.org .
